requirement under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act
of 2005:
-
Consumers must complete an instruction course on financial management.
Completing this course will help you with your financial recovery.
-
The personal financial management course that you are required to take, Money
in Motion, will be taken via internet. This course will provide
you with valuable education in the areas of budget development, effective money
management techniques, and information on consumer laws and regulations.
-
The course is provided online via the internet. The fee for this course is
$50, services are offered without regard to a student’s ability to pay. It will take you approximately 2 hours to complete this
self-study course. You will be required to read the material and take short
quizzes throughout the self-study. It is a requirement under the new law that
consumers spend an appropriate amount of time online studying the material to
assure educational value.
-
To get started contact our Client Services Department at 877-524-9989. One of
our Client Service Representatives will gather some basic information from you
and will provide you with the disclosure forms, affidavit forms and
instructions to get started with your pre-discharge education course. Please
note that the affidavit must be signed by you and your attorney and it must be
returned with a copy of a government issued picture identification card. If you
are not being represented by an attorney, you will be required to have the
affidavit form notarized and returned with the identification card.
-
Once you complete the forms, you will need to return them to us by U.S. mail.
Upon receipt and review, you will receive an email alerting you that you are
now eligible to begin your online course.
